CMT/ABATE of Tennessee Press Release
Motorcycle Use on the Rise Due to High Gas Prices
September 6, 2005
CMT/ABATE, Tennessee’s motorcyclist’s rights organization, reminds drivers that with the rising cost of gasoline, motorcycle use will increase during the next days and weeks, and urges motorists to use extra caution. The number one cause of motorcycle accidents is inattentive motorists who fail to see a motorcycle and violate the motorcyclist’s right of way.
Motorcycles once used primarily on weekends are now seeing duty as commuter vehicles, offering up to twice the fuel mileage of the average mid-size automobile and several times the mileage of big trucks and SUV’s. Remember, motorcycles are entitled to a full lane of traffic and deserve the same respect as any other vehicle on the road. Look Twice, Save a Life!
CMT/ABATE, Inc. is a non-profit, political organization that was formed to preserve freedom and safety for all Tennesseans who enjoy motorcycling. The major goals of CMT/ABATE are to modify existing laws that are detrimental to motorcycle safety and enjoyment, and to enact new legislation in support of all motorcyclists who ride in Tennessee. CMT/ABATE has charters located throughout Tennessee. For locations, visit www.cmtabate.com or call 615 683-6608.
