Membership Information

CMT/ABATE, Inc. is not a “Biker Club," but a grass-roots, political organization that was formed to preserve freedom & safety for all Tennesseans who enjoy motorcycling.  Our major goals are to modify existing laws that are detrimental to motorcycle safety and enjoyment, and to enact new legislation in support of all motorcyclists who now ride in Tennessee.  If you are concerned about preserving personal freedom and motorcycle safety, we urge you to join.

Local charters play an important role in making CMT/ABATE, Inc. an effective organization by contacting their area legislators to inform them of how the local membership feels about issues affecting motorcyclists.  Our annual membership fee is $25 for a Full member, $15 for Associate (includes all rights and privileges -as full member but does not receive monthly Newspaper must be sponsored by full member in good standing), Junior for $10 (for kids up to 16, non-voting member, does not receive newspaper - must be sponsored by a full member in good standing), and lifetime for $200.  You will receive a patch (like the one in the upper left corner of this page), membership card, and a one-year subscription to the TENNESSEE MOTORCYCLIST.

Tri-Fold Brochures and Handouts

When you're out there running around and talking to other motorcyclists, ask them if they are a member of CMT/ABATE. Be prepared to explain the mission and purpose of our organization. A couple of the charters are creating handouts and brochures that can be given to the prospective member in order to explain the purpose of CMT/ABATE and also to advertise the local charter meetings. Harpeth River Charter has one that looks like this (Click here for Front and Rear Panels). It is a tri-fold brochure created from an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper and when it is folded it is 3.66" by 8.5". It is based on an old brochure that the organization used to have. It has been updated and is currently carried and passed out by all the members to the motorcyclists that they encounter in the area. You will notice that it has a membership application, history of CMT/ABATE, benefits of membership and local charter information including meeting times and location. If you would like one for your charter all you have to do is email the Webmaster the information you want on the back panel. He will then supply you with an original in paper and/or electronic form that you can use to pass out in your area.

Other charters are creating business cards with both state and local information on them. Send us your ideas, suggestions and cards and we can display them here for others to see. Let's all use the best ideas and increase our membership.
