LEGISLATIVE  UPDATE

Thanks again to all who have called their representatives and senators. I keep hearing from legislators about the calls and e-mails requesting support of the ROW bill and the “Freedom of Choice” bill.

HB=House Bill SB=Senate Bill

HB1335/SB0794 ROW BILL increases penalties for drivers who violate the right of way and cause serious injury or death. The bill has been sent to the House floor for a vote on April 12. Session is at 9 AM.  In the Senate Trans Committee the bill was rolled until April 11, to get the House amendments added to the committee packets and adopted to the Senate bill. The committee meets at 10:30AM on Wednesday, April 11th. Passage is expected with referral to the calendar committee to schedule a vote on the floor of the Senate. Likely to be heard in the full Senate the week of April 23. Stay Tuned!

HB1283/SB1511 “Freedom of Choice” has passed the TN Senate The bill now goes to a house transportation subcommittee.

HB1536/SB101 “No Kids Under 12” There is still no movement on this bill!! Thanks for the calls and e-mails to your legislators.
 


WATCHING

*HB0201/SB0550 – “Wheelie Bill” This bill has passed the House Transportation and is assigned to Senate Transportation Committee for April 11th at 10:30 AM.

HB1974 by *Maggart. (*SB1994 by *Black.) - ATV Kid’s Helmet Bill This ATV helmet bill has passed the full Senate with a 31-0 vote. It has passed the House transportation subcommittee and has been assigned to the full Transportation Committee for a vote next week.

HB0481 Adds a $16 additional fee on every vehicle registered in TN. This bill was deferred in House Transportation until April 17th and has not moved in the Senate.

Ask your House member to support HB1283 (helmet law) and HB1335 (ROWV)

Ask you Senator to support SB0794 (ROWV) Ask all to oppose HB1536/SB101 (Kid Bill)
