 April, 2011

Well the riding season is upon us finally. We are very fortunate in CMT/ABATE that our board works as a team. We delegate, share tasks & welcome new ideas. Nothing can harm an organization more than board members who do not cooperate with each other.  When everyone is encouraged and allowed to do their jobs great things happen.

Our State wide poker run books are selling well thanks to Kevin Chapnick.

Our Grant program is doing fine thanks to Bette Stewart.

Cecil Redditt is doing a great job with the sign program along with Lisa and Mark Darden.

The new Caney Fork charter had their first event and they are off to a great start.

On the legislative side we stopped the no child under five legislation and our helmet choice bill is going to summer study.  Scott McColpin our legislative rep will go into detail at the June BOD.

We will be setting up the Land Purchase Committee at the June BOD. We have a power point presentation about CMT/ABATE.

In every way we are growing and becoming a modern, efficient and effective organization.

It is exciting for me as State Director to preside over CMT/ABATE during this transition from the old to the new. One thing we must always keep are our core principles of Brotherhood, Defense of our Freedoms and Love of Country. These are what make us who we are. We must pass these values on or they will be lost to the next generation of bikers.

There are a lot of great events coming up which are great fun and help us raise the funds to accomplish our work. I hope to see you at many of them. We welcome all to our events whatever you ride, whatever club or riding organization you belong to, if you support Freedom, and the right to live our lifestyle you are always welcome.

Finally I ask you to join us to protect your rights, I ask you to renew if you have already joined and I ask you to rejoin if you have expired. CMT stands for Concerned Motorcyclists of Tennessee ABATE stand for American Bikers Active Towards Education.
